Blindness

In a city devastated by a sudden epidemic of “white blindness,” authorities hastily quarantine the initial afflicted in an abandoned hospital. Inside, what remains of societal order collapses as the strong exploit the weak, hoarding scarce resources and committing atrocities. Amidst this chaos, one woman remains unaffected by the blindness, hiding her sight to protect herself and her husband who is among the afflicted. Quietly observing the horrors unfold, she becomes the clandestine guide for a group of seven strangers who, against all odds, form a makeshift family within the quarantine, determined to survive.

Based on the novel by Nobel Laureate author José Saramago.
