Silk

In 19th Century France, Herve Joncour, a married silkworm smuggler, embarks on journeys to Japan to procure his clandestine cargo. During one trip, he becomes captivated by a stunning Japanese woman, the concubine of a local baron. Despite their inability to speak the same language, they forge a deep connection through letters exchanged covertly. Their unspoken affection persists even as the specter of war threatens their fragile bond. Meanwhile, back in France, Herve’s wife Helene unravels the secrets he harbors, sensing a growing distance between them and suspecting an affair.
